" My heart is broken, and I share in the grief felt by her husband, their families, and all those she loved and who loved her.

Jenny was a fighter and survivor who courageously twice overcame battles with cancer and often silently battled the tremendous weight of depression. For someone so small in stature, she was mighty in spirit, perseverance, and love. She had a smile and laugh that could melt hearts, and a kindness and generosity toward her friends and all those in need.

The last time we spoke, she was so excited to spend Chinese New Year with her family because she and Romain had moved to Thailand, and it was closer to her family. She said her nieces were teenagers and taller than her now, and her brother had a third, and had moved on to strawberry farming. She was so proud of her husband and how he loved his job and how great he was at it, while poking fun at the demanding golfing elites. It was wonderful to hear how well she was doing because no one deserved happiness more than Jenny. It was also so much like her to celebrate, support, and be proud of the people she loved.

She was kind and caring, a bright light in an often dark world, and she shared that light generously with the people in her life. I'll miss you, Jenny. Thank you for sharing your life with us, and I'll carry your memory always.

In the days since her passing, I've heard from friends across different places and periods of her life. Again and again, the same themes emerge: kindness, warmth, strength, humor, and light. I wanted to share some of their words with her family:

"I immediately thought of all our memories together in Wudaokou, our conversations and hugs, how she gave me that phone case, and I used it until it broke (I loved that thing!), and then as we lost contact, but I still followed her on social media. She was such a bright light in all of our lives, and nobody could help but smile whenever we saw her."

"Just devastating. She was such a light."

"She was always super kind and bubbly, and I always enjoyed hanging out with her. Not to mention, she was one hell of a producer with what I experienced working on set with her and shooting that pilot episode of “The Wu Rush”. Always professional and nice at the same time...she was such a great part of that Lush/Beijing scene."

"Jenny was one of the first people I met in Beijing in 2006. Black Sue, one of the best people I have ever met. I am crying now listening to Jupiter's Fairy."

"Jenny was so sweet and strong and amazing- it’s so hard to imagine she’s gone. She will be missed and remembered by so many."

"Jenny was an absolute sweetheart xxx."

"Jenny was a wonderful person, and I enjoyed all the time we spent together."

"May her memory be a blessing. I don’t have the words to process or express my feelings adequately, but sending love and keeping her family, and all who knew her in my thoughts."

" C'est tellement triste.
J'ai joué plusieurs fois au pickleball avec Jenny à l'Arena Hua Hin. 😢🏓

" This is not easy to put into words. From the bottom of my heart, I wish Jenny's family, and everyone who loved her, peace and comfort in the days ahead.
It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it, but there are moments in life when you feel like you don't quite belong, when you're out of place, surrounded by people or in spaces that don't feel like home. It can be deeply lonely. And then there are the moments when something clicks, and you feel it, a true sense of belonging. Whether it's with a group of people or in a particular place, it's grounding and peaceful to feel accepted for who you are.
Jenny had a gift for creating that feeling for others. She made people feel seen, welcomed, and included in a way that was genuine and lasting. I was incredibly fortunate to experience that kind of belonging years ago in Beijing, in a close-knit group of friends who will always mean so much to me. Jenny was a special part of that connection, and I will always be grateful for the warmth and friendship she shared so freely. It makes me even more meaningful to reflect on how rare and beautiful that sense of belonging is, and how Jenny helped create it for so many people.
Today, I'm holding onto those memories and the joy she brought into the lives of others. I hope her family finds some comfort in knowing how deeply she was appreciated, and how lasting her impact has been. She will be remembered with gratitude, warmth, and love.

" Jenny to me was a person full of life and always wanting to experience every moment, even though she was struggling to find happiness at times, in those moments. I loved Jenny like a sister and I'll never forget her. I'm heartbroken by this tragedy and finding the right words is difficult. She loved you Romain more than anything and seeing the love you shared was touching. My heart goes out to you and the family at this difficult time. Rest in peace dear friend. "

" Jenny touched my life in ways I will always carry with me. I knew her since 2008 in Beijing and watched her face life's challenges with quiet strength and an open heart. She comforted me during one of the hardest moments of my own life, and I will be forever grateful.

To her family — she was deeply loved, far beyond the distance that separated us. My sincerest condolences.

" I can't get Jenny out of my mind. Even though we didn't know each other for very long, we became incredibly close, and our friendship was deeper than any I've experienced before.
I admired her so much. She showed tremendous courage in the way she faced her depression. She would often tell me how hard it was to get up and come to yoga, but she found the strength to do it anyway. We'd have coffee afterward and talk, and I know how much effort that took.
I was hopeful that when she returned to France, she would be able to speak with her doctors and get the support she needed. She was always trying, always fighting.
She loved you Romain so much, and was so proud of your achievements. She often spoke about how supportive you were through her depression.
She spoke about how she missed her family in China and wished she could help her brother and his family more.
Jenny was a truly beautiful human being and I can't stop crying.
I miss you terribly Jenny and send my condolences to all your families.
May your soul be at peace now.
Love you
Margie

" Margie,

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your beautiful and deeply moving words about Jenny.

It means so much to me to read how close you became in such a short time, and how truly you saw her. You describe exactly the Jenny I knew and loved: incredibly courageous, fighting every day against something invisible, and still finding the strength to show up, to talk, to share moments of connection. Knowing that she had those coffees with you after yoga, that she was able to confide in you and feel understood, brings me a lot of comfort.

Her depression was a heavy burden, and you’re right: she was always trying, always fighting. I had hoped, like you, that coming back to France and seeing her doctors would help her find more stability and relief. Reading your message, I feel less alone in that hope, and also in the pain of losing her.

She carried so much love inside her, even when she was suffering.

Knowing that she talked about me with pride and affection touches me deeply and makes me both very sad and very grateful.

I am so sorry for your pain and your tears. Your grief shows how real and precious your friendship was.

Jenny was indeed the most beautiful human being, and it is a comfort to know that she had someone like you by her side during this difficult part of her life.

Thank you for your condolences and for loving her as you did. I hope, like you, that she has finally found peace.

With all my gratitude and affection,

Romain
